FICTION
The Fiction section of the media center is located on the south side of the media centerF iction books are imaginative stories shelved according to the genre, then the author's last name, then title. To help you quickly locate the books you like they are shelved by genre with identifying stickers affixed to the spine and then place in alpha order within the genre. The genres are: Adventure (ADV), Fantasy (FAN), Graphic Novels (GRA), Historical Fiction (HIS), Horror (HOR), Mystery (MYS), Realistic Fiction (REAL), Science Fiction (SCI), Sports (SPO), Story Collection (SC).
NONFICTION
The nonfiction section is on the north wall of the media center. Nonfiction books are factual writings shelved according to their subject. Every subject is assigned a Dewey number, so the books are in order from smallest to largest Dewey number. All books with the same Dewey number (since many books are written on the same subject) are then organized by the author's last name. Most public libraries use the Dewey Decimal System, so if you are interested in a particular subject, you can go to St. Clair Shores' Public Library and look in their nonfiction section under the same number. For example, books about Shakespeare are assigned the number 822.33. You can find William's works at 822.33 in our library and any other library that uses the Dewey Decimal System.
BIOGRAPHY
The biography section is on the south side of the media center. Biography books are factual writings about a person and shelved according to the last name of the person the book is about. All books about John F. Kennedy, regardless of who wrote the book, are shelved together. All biography books start with the letter B and then the last name of the person the book is about on the spine.
MINI LAB
The library has a mini lab for individual student use of 20 computers, a network printer, a network color printer, and a scanner.
